Ancient Kingdoms.
Still Standing.
Walk the stone corridors of Angkor Wat as morning mist lifts over the moat. Stand at the South Gate of Angkor Thom and look up at faces carved six centuries before photography. Cruise the Mekong at golden hour as Phnom Penh's riverfront lights come on. Cambodia is not just history. It is history you can touch.

Where Ancient Empires Meet Real Life
Cambodia draws people with its temples, obviously. But it also stays with them because of something harder to name: a country that went through extraordinary suffering and came out the other side still building, still welcoming.

Angkor Wat and the Khmer Empire
The largest religious monument on earth, built in the early 12th century and never fully abandoned. Angkor Wat, Angkor Thom, the Bayon's 200 stone faces, Ta Prohm with its tree roots splitting ancient walls. An entire morning here barely scratches the surface.

Tonle Sap: Life on the Water
Southeast Asia's largest freshwater lake, connected to the Mekong and rising and falling with it each season. Floating schools, floating churches, floating markets. Communities that have lived on the water for generations. Nothing quite like it in the region.

Phnom Kulen: The Sacred Mountain
Where the Khmer Empire was born in AD 802. King Jayavarman II declared independence here. The River of a Thousand Lingas flows beneath the jungle, carvings of Shiva and Vishnu covering the riverbed. A reclining Buddha sits at the summit. Most visitors to Cambodia never make it here.

Phnom Penh: Capital with a Complex Story
A French-colonial riverfront city at the meeting point of the Mekong and Tonle Sap. The Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda, the sobering Toul Sleng Genocide Museum, the Russian Market. A city that holds its history honestly and has rebuilt itself with remarkable energy.
Where to Go and Why
Most Cambodia trips combine Siem Reap's temple circuit with Phnom Penh's capital highlights. The sacred Kulen Mountain and Tonle Sap lake add depth for those with an extra day.

Siem Reap
HistoricGateway to the Angkor Archaeological Park. Ancient temples, colonial streets, Pub Street nightlife and Tonle Sap lake. Every Cambodia trip starts here.
Best Time to Visit Cambodia from Malaysia
Cambodia is a year-round destination, though the dry season gives the clearest conditions for temple visits and outdoor exploration.
Cool Dry Season
Best TimeNovember to February
The most comfortable months. Lower temperatures, clear skies and very little rain. Peak season for Angkor Wat and outdoor activities.
Hot Dry Season
Good ValueMarch to May
Hotter and drier with fewer crowds. Tonle Sap is at its lowest, which concentrates wildlife. Good for budget-conscious travellers.
Wet Season
Lush SceneryJune to October
Monsoon brings green rice fields, fuller waterfalls on Kulen Mountain and higher water on Tonle Sap. Temples are quieter and prices are lower.
How Many Days Do You Actually Need?
Angkor Focus
Enough for a full Angkor temple circuit plus time to explore Siem Reap's old quarter and night market.
Sweet Spot
Adds Tonle Sap lake, Phnom Penh's highlights and possibly the Mekong sunset cruise. The ideal first Cambodia trip.
Deep Dive
Room to add Phnom Kulen, Banteay Srei, the Russian Market, and a slower pace through both cities.
