5 Days — Danang, Ba Na Hills & UNESCO Hoi An. Heritage Train Over Hai Van Pass to Imperial Hue.
Central Vietnam by train — the way it was meant to be seen. The Heritage Train departs Danang at 07:50 and crosses over Hai Van Pass at 496 metres, with Lang Co Bay visible far below. Five hours later you are in Hue, the last imperial capital of Vietnam. Ba Na Hills with the Golden Bridge on day four. And between these: basket boat through the Hoi An coconut palm wetland, and a guided walk through the UNESCO Ancient Town — Hoi An's Japanese bridge, Chinese assembly halls, and tailor shops unchanged for 400 years.

5 Days Danang + Ba Na Hills + Hoi An + Heritage Train to Hue
This five-day package takes the scenic train from Danang to Hue rather than the mountain road — a fundamentally different experience that uses the historic South China Sea railway route, climbing over Hai Van Pass with ocean panoramas that the road route does not provide. The Heritage Train (Reunification Express) at 07:50 from Danang is the same railway that carried Vietnamese traders and imperial passengers for over a century, passing through the Hai Van Tunnel and briefly stopping at Lang Co Station with views of the UNESCO-nominated lagoon.
The itinerary covers all four of Central Vietnam's essential experiences: Danang city tour on day one, the Heritage Train to Hue on day two with the Imperial Citadel and Khai Dinh Tomb, Hoi An basket boat and Ancient Town on day three, and Ba Na Hills with the Golden Bridge on day four. The routing returns to Danang as the base hotel, allowing a cohesive experience with the final day's beach or city options.
Ba Na Hills on day four is the modern counterpart to the colonial-era train: Sun World's 1,489-metre hilltop resort, with the Golden Bridge (the two giant stone hands), the French Village, the cable car records, and a full buffet lunch. Together, the train and Ba Na Hills give this package a distinctively varied transport and landscape experience compared to the Hai Van Pass road route.

Why This 5-Day Danang Heritage Train Package Stands Apart

Heritage Train — Danang to Hue Over Hai Van Pass
The train from Danang to Hue departs at 07:50 and arrives at 10:35, travelling a route that hugs the South China Sea coast, climbs over the Hai Van Pass at 496 metres, and passes Lang Co Bay before descending into Hue. The views from the train window as it rounds the headland above Lang Co Bay — the lagoon on one side, the sea on the other — are considered among the most spectacular train views in Asia. This is the Reunification Express line, the railway that links Hanoi to Ho Chi Minh City and has operated since 1936.

Hue Imperial City — Vietnam's Last Dynasty
Hue was the capital of the Nguyen Dynasty from 1802 to 1945. The Imperial Citadel (Dai Noi) is a 520-hectare walled complex with the Forbidden Purple City at its centre — a Vietnamese adaptation of Beijing's Forbidden City, largely destroyed in the 1968 Tet Offensive but extensively restored. The guided visit covers the Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, and the restored sections of the royal compound. After the citadel, Khai Dinh Royal Tomb (1920–1931) is the most dramatic of Hue's imperial mausoleums — built in French-influenced style with an extraordinary mosaic interior.

Basket Boat & Hoi An Ancient Town
Day three combines the Cam Thanh basket boat experience (coracle ride through the Bay Mau coconut palm wetland, with local fishermen demonstrating net casting, crab fishing, boat spinning, and singing) with the UNESCO Hoi An Ancient Town guided walk. The Japanese Covered Bridge (1593), Tan Ky Old House, Fujian Assembly Hall (1757), and Museum of Trade Ceramics are all included. Free time for Hoi An's tailor shops — the best in Vietnam for both speed and quality of hand-sewn garments.

Ba Na Hills — The Golden Bridge
The Golden Bridge at Ba Na Hills — two giant stone hands reaching up from the mountainside to hold a golden-railed footbridge — is among the most photographed structures in Vietnam. The cable car ascent covers 5,801 metres and holds multiple world records (length, height change, longest non-stop). The hilltop French Village recreates a medieval European mountain town, with a château, bell tower, wine cellar, and cobblestone streets. The full Sun World combo (cable car + funicular + all attractions + buffet lunch) is included.

5 Day Danang Heritage Train Hue Hoi An Ba Na Hills Tour from Malaysia
The 5-day Danang Heritage Train to Hue package is the most scenic Central Vietnam tour available from Malaysia. Taking the Reunification Express train from Danang over Hai Van Pass to Hue is a quintessentially Vietnamese experience — the same coastal railway route that has operated since the colonial era, passing coastline and mountain pass views that make the 2-hour 45-minute journey as memorable as the destinations themselves.
This package covers three of Central Vietnam's four UNESCO World Heritage experiences: Hue's Imperial Citadel and Royal Tombs, Hoi An's Ancient Town (UNESCO 1999), and the journey itself on the historic South China Sea railway. Ba Na Hills adds the modern counterpoint — the Golden Bridge, the French Village, and the world-record cable car.
