About This Package

5 Days Best of Central Vietnam: Danang, Hue, Hoi An & Ba Na Hills

This five-day package covers all four of Central Vietnam's essential destinations — Danang, Hue, Hoi An, and Ba Na Hills — with one night in each of the two inland UNESCO cities. It is the most comprehensive Central Vietnam itinerary offered without requiring a second week.

The routing follows the natural geography of Central Vietnam: Danang on the coast, Hue inland over Hai Van Pass, Hoi An back to the coast south of Danang, and Ba Na Hills as the hilltop finale. This circular route avoids backtracking and allows each destination to flow naturally into the next. The Hai Van Pass drive is itself one of the most scenic road journeys in Vietnam — the colonial-era pass at 496 metres elevation divides north and south Vietnam climatically and historically.

Hue and Hoi An are both UNESCO World Heritage Sites with very different characters. Hue is a former imperial capital: the Forbidden Purple City, royal tombs, and French colonial river streets. Hoi An is a former international trading port: Japanese merchant houses, Chinese assembly halls, Portuguese-era streets, and the most vibrant tailor, lantern, and food culture in Vietnam. One night in each allows genuine exploration rather than a rushed day trip.

What Makes This Trip

Why This 5-Day Central Vietnam Package Stands Apart

Hai Van Pass scenic mountain road Lang Co Bay Vietnam central

Hai Van Pass — Vietnam's Most Scenic Mountain Road

The Hai Van Pass (Pass of Ocean Clouds) at 496 metres above sea level marks the historic border between the former kingdoms of Dai Viet (north) and Champa (south), and today still marks a distinct climatic boundary — the pass blocks the cold northern air masses, making Hoi An and Danang noticeably warmer than Hue. The drive over the pass is considered by many travellers to be one of the most beautiful road journeys in Asia. Lang Co Bay visible from the northern descent is a UNESCO-nominated lagoon.

Hue Imperial Citadel Nguyen Dynasty Vietnam UNESCO

Hue Imperial City & Royal Tombs

Hue was the seat of the Nguyen Dynasty — the last imperial dynasty of Vietnam — from 1802 to 1945. The Imperial City (Kinh Thanh) is a walled complex modelled on Beijing's Forbidden City, covering 520 hectares on the northern bank of the Perfume River. The Royal Tombs complex outside the city includes eight imperial mausoleums — this package visits Khai Dinh Tomb, the most distinctive for its French-influenced exterior and elaborate mosaic interior. The Thien Mu Pagoda, seven storeys tall on the riverbank, is Hue's most iconic image.

Basket boat coracle Hoi An coconut forest Vietnam

Basket Boat & Hoi An Ancient Town

Hoi An day three combines the Cam Thanh basket boat experience (coracle ride through the Bay Mau coconut palm wetland with fishermen demonstrating net casting, crab fishing, and boat spinning) with the guided walking tour of Hoi An Ancient Town — covering the Japanese Covered Bridge (1593), Tan Ky Old House (200-year-old Chinese-Japanese merchant residence), Fujian Assembly Hall (1757), and the Museum of Trade Ceramics. The afternoon is free for Hoi An's tailors and market.

Ba Na Hills Golden Bridge giant hands Sun World Danang Vietnam

Ba Na Hills — Sun World Golden Bridge

Sun World Ba Na Hills is a theme park and resort complex on top of Ba Na Mountain (1,489 metres), 45 km from Danang city. The cable car ascent covers 5,801 metres and holds the record for the world's longest non-stop single track cable car. The Golden Bridge — upheld by two giant stone hands — is the most photographed structure in Vietnam. The hilltop recreates a French village: European-style château, wine cellar, gardens, and cobblestone streets. The Sun World combo (cable car + all attractions + funicular + buffet lunch) is fully included.

Central Vietnam's four destinations — Danang, Hue, Hoi An, Ba Na Hills — require thoughtful sequencing and logistics. The Hai Van Pass routing, the overnight stays in both Hue and Hoi An, the Ba Na Hills timing, and the basket boat booking all need coordination. Dhesu has been managing Central Vietnam circuits for Malaysian travellers since 1988. Every detail is arranged.

MATTA & IATA Registered

Fully licensed Malaysian travel agency. Central Vietnam circuits are among our most frequently booked itineraries for Malaysian travellers.

Ba Na Hills Fully Included

The full Sun World Ba Na Hills combo (cable car + all attractions + funicular + buffet lunch) is included. No separate ticketing at the hill — everything is arranged before you arrive.

Overnight in Both UNESCO Cities

Unlike single-day excursions to Hue and Hoi An, this package gives you one night in each — enough time to experience both cities at their best, including Hue by evening along the Perfume River.

5 Day Danang Hue Hoi An Ba Na Hills Tour from Malaysia

The 5-day Central Vietnam tour covering Danang, Hue, Hoi An, and Ba Na Hills is the most popular Central Vietnam itinerary for Malaysian travellers. It covers both UNESCO World Heritage Sites (Hue and Hoi An) with overnight stays in each, and adds the Ba Na Hills Golden Bridge experience that has made Central Vietnam one of the most photographed destinations in Southeast Asia.

For first-time visitors to Central Vietnam, this five-day circuit covers everything essential. For repeat visitors, the Hai Van Pass drive, the Thuy Xuan Incense Village, and the Cam Thanh basket boat offer distinctively local experiences that the standard Danang day tour packages miss.
