3 Days Krabi: The Four Islands by Longtail Boat
This is the most straightforward Krabi package we offer, and for a lot of travellers it is the right one. Two nights in Ao Nang, one full day on the water covering the four islands that define Krabi's coastline, and no other fixed commitments.
The four-island route runs from Ao Nang beach out into the Andaman Sea by traditional longtail boat or speedboat. Phranang Cave sits at the foot of the Railay headland and holds a shrine to a princess spirit respected by local people. Chicken Island is named for the limestone formation that resembles a chicken's head and neck, and the snorkelling around it is the day's best. Tup Island has a white-sand bar that emerges at low tide, and Poda Island closes the day with a wide beach and clear, shallow water.
The boat returns to your hotel by around 2pm, which leaves the rest of the day open. Krabi rewards that — Ao Nang's beachfront, the night market in Krabi town, or simply the pace of a place that is a good deal quieter than Phuket.

The Four Islands by Traditional Longtail
The route covers Phranang Cave, Chicken Island, Tup Island and Poda Island in a single day from Ao Nang, travelling by traditional longtail boat or speedboat depending on the day and the group. It is the classic Krabi excursion and the reason most people come, taking in shrine caves, snorkelling water, a tidal sandbar and a white-sand beach in one loop of the Andaman Sea.
Chicken Island & the Snorkelling Stop
Koh Kai takes its name from the limestone formation at its tip, which from the right angle resembles the head and neck of a chicken. The water around it is the day's main snorkelling stop, shallow and clear enough to see reef fish without diving, and the boat anchors long enough to get properly in the water rather than just look at it.
The Tup Island Sandbar
At low tide a strip of white sand emerges from the sea between Tup Island and its neighbours, and you can walk out along it with water on both sides. It is a genuinely unusual thing to stand on, and it is the photograph most people take home from Krabi. Whether it appears depends on the tide on the day, which is why the boat timings are set around it.
Phranang Cave & Poda Island
Phranang Cave sits beneath the Railay headland and is well known for the local legends attached to it and for the shrine to a princess spirit that fishermen still honour. Poda Island closes the day: a wide white beach backed by a single limestone outcrop, with shallow, clear water for swimming before the boat turns for Ao Nang.

3 Day Krabi Package from Malaysia — The Four Islands
A three-day Krabi package from Malaysia is the shortest trip that still gives you a complete day on the water. Krabi International Airport takes direct traffic from Kuala Lumpur, and Ao Nang — where the boats leave from — is around a 40-minute drive from the terminal.
The four-island tour is the anchor. It leaves the pier at 08:30 and is back at your hotel by around 2pm, which is early enough that the day does not feel spent. The arrival evening and departure morning are left free, which suits Krabi: it is a quieter, more scenic place than Phuket and it rewards not scheduling every hour.
Longtail Boat or Speedboat — Does It Matter?
The four-island route runs on both, and which you travel on depends on the day and the group size. The traditional longtail is slower and noisier, sits low in the water and is the more atmospheric way to see the karsts; the speedboat is faster and drier, and gives you a little more time at each stop.
