About This Package

3 Days Phuket: Phang Nga Bay, James Bond Island & Naka Island

This three-day package is the shortest sensible Phuket trip that still includes a proper day at sea. It pairs two free days in Patong with one full-day speedboat tour of Phang Nga Bay — the stretch of water north-east of Phuket where limestone karsts rise straight out of shallow green sea.

The bay day covers Panak Island's caves, James Bond Island, a canoe through Tham Lod Cave at Koh Talu, lunch at the stilt village of Koh Panyee, and swimming time at Naka Island. Khao Ping Kan and the freestanding stack of Koh Tapu took their nickname from the 1974 film The Man with the Golden Gun, and the pairing has been Phang Nga Bay's signature image ever since.

Days one and three are deliberately unstructured. Patong is Phuket's most developed beach town, and it is walkable: Bangla Road after dark, Jungceylon for shopping, Simon Cabaret, Muay Thai at Patong Boxing Stadium, or quieter sand at Freedom and Paradise beaches a short ride away.

What Makes This Trip

Why This 3 Days Phuket Package Stands Apart

Khao Ping Kan and the offshore stack of Koh Tapu, known as James Bond Island

James Bond Island — Phang Nga Bay's Signature Stack

Khao Ping Kan and the slim limestone pillar of Koh Tapu standing offshore are the most photographed rocks in Thailand. The pairing was made internationally famous by the 1974 James Bond film The Man with the Golden Gun, and the nickname stuck. The speedboat allows time ashore to explore, photograph the stack from the beach, and browse the souvenir stalls behind it.

Bamboo rafts on the water inside Tham Lod Cave

Sea Canoeing at Tham Lod Cave

At Koh Talu the speedboat stops and you transfer to a canoe for roughly thirty minutes, paddling through Tham Lod Cave and the hidden passages around it. The water is flat, the ceilings are low in places, and the paddling is done for you if you would rather sit and look. It is the quietest part of the day and, for many travellers, the most memorable.

The stilt village of Koh Panyee beneath a limestone cliff in Phang Nga Bay

Koh Panyee — The Village Built on Stilts

Lunch is served at Koh Panyee, a Muslim fishing village built almost entirely on stilts above the water against a limestone cliff in Phang Nga Bay. After eating there is time to walk the boardwalks between the houses and see the village's famous floating football pitch, built by local children who had no flat ground to play on.

Naka Island from the air, with its beach, pool and palms

Panak Island Caves & Naka Island Beach Time

The morning cruise takes in Panak Island's limestone cliffs and its sea caves — Ice Cream Cave, Keaw Cave or Mangrove Cave, depending on the tide and conditions on the day. The tour finishes with an afternoon at Naka Island for swimming and beach time before the speedboat returns to the pier at around 5pm.

Why Dhesu

Phuket — Arranged by Malaysia's Trusted Agency Since 1988

Phuket is one of the shortest international flights a Malaysian traveller can take, which makes a three-day trip genuinely worthwhile rather than rushed. Dhesu arranges the Phang Nga Bay day with operators we have used for years, so the pickup time is honoured, the canoe stop is not skipped when the schedule slips, and lunch at Koh Panyee is a seat at a table rather than a scramble.

MATTA & IATA Registered

Fully licensed Malaysian travel agency. Southern Thailand is a short flight from Kuala Lumpur and one of our most frequently booked beach circuits.

35+ Years of Thailand Experience

Since 1988 we have been arranging Thailand holidays for Malaysians. Our Andaman coast operators are long-term partners, not rotating contractors.

Private Airport Transfers

Arrival and departure transfers are private and included, so you are met at the terminal rather than left to find a taxi rank.

Transparent Pricing

The rate shown is per person on twin sharing, with the boat tours, guide and national park fees stated plainly under inclusions and exclusions.

3 Day Phuket Package from Malaysia — What to Expect

A three-day Phuket package from Malaysia is built around one anchor day. Flights from Kuala Lumpur to Phuket take a little under two hours, so a Friday evening departure and a Sunday evening return give you two full nights and one complete day at sea — which is exactly what this itinerary is designed around.

The Phang Nga Bay speedboat tour is the day that justifies the trip. It leaves the pier at 09:00 and returns around 17:00, covering the caves at Panak Island, James Bond Island, the canoe stop at Tham Lod Cave, lunch at Koh Panyee and swimming at Naka Island. Everything else — arrival evening and departure morning — is deliberately unscheduled so you are not rushing between transfers.

James Bond Island or Phi Phi — Which Day Trip Should You Choose?

Both are full-day speedboat trips from Phuket and both are worth doing, but they are different days out. Phang Nga Bay, where James Bond Island sits, is sheltered water with towering limestone karsts, sea caves and a stilt village — the emphasis is on scenery, caves and canoeing rather than swimming.

Phi Phi is open sea to the south-east, and the emphasis is on snorkelling, swimming and beaches: Maya Bay, Monkey Beach, Pileh Lagoon. If you only have one day, choose Phang Nga Bay for landscape and Phi Phi for water. If you have four days, our 4 Days Explore Phuket package includes both.
