Six Days to Experience the Full Range of Bali
Six days is the length of stay that finally lets Bali breathe. The first three days cover the island's most celebrated circuit — Uluwatu's clifftop, Ubud's highlands, the Floating Temple at Bedugul, and Tanah Lot at dusk — at a pace that allows each place to make its proper impression rather than a checkbox. Day four adds the sites that separate this package from every other: the Lempuyang Temple and its famous Gates of Heaven, a doorway that frames a perfect reflection of Mount Agung; the Tirta Gangga royal water palace with its ornate fountains and reflection pools; and Kanto Lampo Waterfall, a tiered cascade in the island's east that most Bali visitors never find.
Day five is entirely free — a private vehicle and driver for up to ten hours, to use however you want. Sleep in, find a beach club, explore a village, or revisit somewhere you wanted more time at. What Makes This Trip Special
Gates of Heaven at Lempuyang Temple
Pura Lempuyang Luhur sits at 1,175 metres on the slopes of Mount Lempuyang in east Bali. Its split gate — the Candi Bentar — frames a perfect symmetrical view of Mount Agung when the sky is clear, and when shot at the reflection pool below, the image is one of the most replicated photographs in Southeast Asia. The temple complex is genuinely sacred and the setting — mist, jungle, and a peak that has been worshipped since the 10th century — is humbling regardless of whether you have a camera.
Tirta Gangga Royal Water Palace
Built in 1948 by the last raja of Karangasem, Tirta Gangga is a complex of ornate pools, fountains, stepping stones, and water gardens laid out across terraced rice fields in east Bali. Koi-filled reflection ponds, stone statues, and lush tropical gardens surround the central spring, which is still considered holy by local Balinese. It is a place of extraordinary tranquillity — and architecturally, one of Bali's most complete traditional royal estates.
Kanto Lampo Waterfall — East Bali's Hidden Cascade
Kanto Lampo is a tiered waterfall east of Gianyar where water cascades over a broad face of black volcanic rock in multiple thin streams, creating a curtain effect unique among Bali's many waterfalls. A short walk through rice fields leads to the cascade, where it is possible to stand on the lower rocks and feel the spray. It appears on few standard Bali itineraries — which makes it one of the best stops on this one.
Tanah Lot & Bedugul Floating Temple
Day three pairs two of Bali's most iconic landmarks. Pura Ulun Danu Beratan appears to float on the misty surface of highland Lake Beratan — a 17th-century temple that is one of Bali's most-photographed sites. The day ends at Tanah Lot, the 16th-century sea temple on a rocky islet that frames the definitive Bali sunset silhouette. Junglegold Chocolate Factory and Bloom Garden make the highland drive between them memorable.

Lempuyang Temple and the Gates of Heaven — What You Need to Know
The 'Gates of Heaven' photograph requires a queue — sometimes a long one, particularly at peak times. Dhesu schedules the Lempuyang visit for the early morning to minimise waiting time. The reflection in the photograph is created by a mirror held below the camera by the temple's assistant — it is not an actual pool. This is well-known and does not diminish the experience: the temple complex itself, the views, and the sacred atmosphere are entirely genuine.
East Bali for Malaysian Travellers — The Forgotten Quarter
Most Bali itineraries focus on the south (Kuta, Seminyak, Uluwatu) and the centre (Ubud, Kintamani, Bedugul).
